One of the schools that our 2016 RHP is interested in is a low DI high academic (non-Ivy) school. One of the school's assistant coaches attended a show case last June where my son pitched and did well. My son had emailed the coach beforehand to tell him of his interest in the school and to let him know my son was attending the showcase.  My son did not have a chance to talk to the coach at the showcase and never heard back from him.  That coach appears to have left the college as he is no longer listed on the school's baseball website.  A couple weeks ago, my son sent the HC an email telling him of his interest and enclosing his transcript and video.  My son did not receive a response.  We are planning on visiting the school in late October and taking a tour.  Would it be presumptuous of my son to send another note to the HC and another assistant coach (they have the same email address) letting them know that we are going to visit (attaching the prior email and information) and asking them, if possible, could my son meet either of them briefly?  I have no idea where they are in the recruiting process and if they are even looking at 2016's yet.  My son seems to be an athletic fit (and academic fit) for the school.  I will also have him complete the player questionnaire, if he hasn't done so already, before he sends the note.

Yes schools are definitely looking at 2016 already, even young Soph in our area.

is your so D1 potential. What are his numbers?  Has he attended showcases where he was given feedback?  He needs to be evaluated maybe a PG showcase.  Does this school he's interested in have showcases/camps?  If so go, if they like him they will want to watch him pitch in real games. Good luck.

We have been told that he is low-to-mid D1 potential.  In his showcase in August, he pitched 83-86.  He received feedback at two showcases this summer and it was very positive - good velocity, good slider and decent changeup.  This school was at the first showcase he did this summer and the evaluator (not from this college) told him that he (the evaluator) had given him the highest marks of any of the pitchers at the showcase (of course, this was an Academic showcase, so there weren't any high D1 pitchers there throwing 90+).  I don't know if this school does camps.  If so, we did not receive an invite.

You don't have to receive an invite...the camps are open to the public.  Go to the baseball page on the school's website.  If there's an upcoming camp, it should be listed.  Even better, email the coach....with a mention of Prospect Camp in the subject line....that will get his attention...as prospect camps are a good money maker....they normally will take as many kids as they can get.  It's a good way to get in front of the staff...and they'll see more than just watching your son throw a couple innings at a showcase

Told by who?

Work on change up, it's import to have. Velocity in 90's is great but college guys at all levels can hit speed. Location of pitches, and off speed is what's import to master.

Getting high marks is fine, but if he's not getting attention it doesnt matter.

Many colleges have camps/showcases over Christmas break.

Also, look into D2 schools and good academic D3 where he ll be able to get academic money.
