This is getting more and more difficult to do these days. I tell my pitchers that they need to shut it down November and December. No games, no bullpens. At school I can control this, but outside of school, it is very difficult.

Anyone else having this problem?

Coach, my son is a senior and has not committed to a college yet, so of course all these teams want him to throw in a winter "showcase" and colleges are begging for him to come out to "their winter camp". He hasnt stopped throwing since Feb.
The coaches do not understand (or act like it wont be a big deal) why we have to continue to say his arm needs a break - they have had spring/summer and fall to see him on the mound.

After the first week in Nov he hasnt thrown a game or a pen, so of course his arm isnt "gametime ready" ...
Coach, I have always shut down my son for at least two months, however in his Jr year we adjusted and put in a short shut down in late Aug / early Sept since all of the showcase events are in Oct/Nov. There are also mini camps at the colleges in December so pitchers who are college bound will be throwing in the fall. Not great but just the way it is.
