We start our winter workouts on Dec. 1st each year. Our conditioning starts the week we get back from Christmas break in January, and our lifting/plyos program begins around the same time.
I don't like to get started too early, as I've seen many teams that do burn out at the end of the season. Our players play in a wood bat fall league (18 games), so the ones that play in that league just finished their final game on October 23rd.
we have been running and lifting since the beginning of school. our guys are now finished with fall ball. but we have a dead period for the month of november where we can't do anything but lift "conditioning" is prohibitted at this time. our guys still get together and go run on their own. january we will have winter workouts at 6pm inside 4 days a week. 2 for pitchers and catchers and 2 for position players. and we can only have 8 at a time then.
Since school started we are lifting two days a week and doing baseball skills three. As long as the weather is good and we can go to the field we will continue to do that. It is 85 today. After the weather turns bad we will reverse that and lift three days a week and do our baseball skills inside.
