Does anyone have any opinions on getting championship rings for their high school players if they win a title?

District, Regional, State, Spring Break Tourney, State Finals appearance

Or does a championship ring only have merit if a state title is won?

Championship ring and commemorative rings are different in my opinion.  For example, commemorative rings could include hall of fame, coach of the year, ring of honor, etc.

State championships get a ring.  State appearance can get them a plaque / trophy.  District, conference, spring break, etc..... get them a t-shirt.  If you have a roster of about 15 guys plus coaches and support staff you are going to run into the many thousands of dollars to pay for those rings.  A school close to us in one school year won football, boys and girls soccer state championships.  They bought only varsity players, coaches, support staff and principals a ring and it cost them just under $20K.

Many PG National tournaments award players of the championship team Championship rings.  Been doing it for a long time. It makes those tournaments more important to participating teams.  The good teams definitely play for keeps because they want those rings.

Good personalized rings can get very costly.  So probably best to only do it at very big events.

Son received a ring when his team won the GLSCL last summer. I do not believe the league provided it though. I believe the team he played on provided it.

I think it is good for important milestones, such as the events P&G staff mentioned, and state championshipsin HS. Otherwise stick with a hoody or a t-shirt.

My younger son is a wrestler. One of the tourneys his team regularly participates in gives out a championship hoody for the weight class champion. The wrestlers would rather win the hoody than all the medals they get in other tourneys. The medals my son has won over the years sit in a desk or shelf and collect dust. The boys who win the hoody usually wear them until they wear out.

I know some colleges get conference championship rings, world series appearance rings (just for getting there), and I would suppose NCAA world series winner.

Son has 4 rings.  1 for high school state champion, 1 for D2 college world series champion and 2 for spring break tournament (Hillsborough County FL Saladino).  The high school state champion ring parents chipped in for, the college championship ring was paid through Alumni and local dignitary donations, and the 2 Saladino rings were donated by the ring manufacturer.

If he played at one of the D1 schools I mentioned first and awarded the same way he would have added this many rings just for college: 3 conference championships and 1 other world series appearance (0-2 and Bar-b-que).

The two he really cherishes are the HS state championship ring and college WS ring.  He wears the respective ring when he goes back to the respective schools for alumni appearances.

He is throwing out the first pitch at his HS opening game next week, he might wear all 4 rings just for the wow factor. Gives those kids there something to shoot for!

Side note on the first pitch, HS coach asked him today when he was working out with another alumni minor leaguer at the HS field.  He said sure he would, but jokingly told coach he wanted to be introduced as a major pick(up) for the Rays, not the non drafted free agent that he was.

My son was always excited about any tournament that offered championship rings.  Not sure why, but these were always a big attraction to the boys.

No doubt.  A state high school championship should get a ring.  Districts or regionals should get a piece of paper or pat on the back.

I'm not sure what it is, but boys like their sports rings.  My oldest son is not a material person at all.  He shuns everything that don't have a function.  But his most prized possessions are his Perfect Game 16U WWBA 2008 ring, and 2012 conference championship ring with his, college, name and number.

The funny thing is he never considered a traditional student high school or college ring that most people buy.
