Stich was at one of our games last year (he really came to see Pamela Anderson throw out the first pitch). He was very generous and gave our team a great write up. Great to talk to him but I couldn't remember his real name at the time. Hope his link is only temporarily down. He just finished rating all 300 D1 teams.

Many are upset.

I say, welcome Rivals posters.

CD, what do you say about setting up a "college" forum?

A college forum would be up to Julie but I think it could work. On the other hand, we have a forum entitled After High School and it often languishes with no activity. Here is another suggestion for Julie - maybe we rename the After High School forum to the College Forum?
I don't think a forum would serve any purpose or drive traffic. They still have that at rivals. What they did have was the unique content that Kendall brought to the site that drove discussion. Sans that, no purpose in a dedicated forum, IMHO.

I posted this in the "after HS" forum and got virtually no response. I agree that Julie should consider renaming the forum to "college" or something similar and get in touch with Kendall and put a spot at the top with his blog and do a mutual link between the sites. Would be good for both IMO.

I just check out Rivals and noticed that Kendall Rogers has left them. (or been left)

Anyway he is now here for anyone who is interested:

Julie may be an opportunity to bring in some new "customers" if you expanded the college section.
Definitely will be moving that bookmark - and moving my traffic away from Yahoo.

I very much enjoy Kendall's content and the conversations that follow. However, I don't think that the style of conversation fits with the culture here - much more aggressive and in your face. I'd wouldn't like to see HSBBW go that direction...

Would fully agree with my esteemed co-posters...

While I really enjoyed Kendall and his insights, inside contacts and breaking news...

A great deal of what went on in the message boards was "pointless program puffery"...

I have always believed that we have the best part of college ball here, the human/family/helpful/all in this together part...and little of the harder, more combative, ego laden part...

The only part that might be of interest was a section on breaking program news, the part that Kendall provided...though we do get most of that that thorugh our network as it gets out.

Kendall's a good guy who does a very good job in tracking college baseball. He has transferred his content to his blog site for the time being and hopes to replicate that message board, which I also agree serves a different purpose than the ones here. Of course, they're all good in their own way because they provide useful information about the game all of us follow. But either another Web site will hire Kendall with his resources and talent or he'll find a permanent way to strike out on his own.
I guess I have to disagree with this and think there is some value to expand this board and make it a little more interesting. Certainly there is some program puffery at Rvials, but there are a number of posters that are very well informed on the programs they are close to and have some great local insights.

Obviously given it's name the focus on this board is HS baseball, but there is some good content for the younger players and there are some posters here who are quite knowlegable obout the college and pro game & teams.

I for one would welcome some "pointless program puffery" in exhange for the "pointless player puffery" that we get here. JMO
I wonder what is meant by "expand the board"? Simply adding a forum called "College Baseball" with the subtitle "Pointless Program Puffery welcome" isn't going to cause an en masse movement from Rivals to here. Instead a few folks may post here, and if the attitude of this board (including moderation) is tolerant of that style of posting, then posting in the PPP forum may expand.

My opinion is that the existing posters at this site will not be welcoming to much of the non-Kendall content or style that is posted at Rivals, and the "expansion" will eventually fail. However, we may lose posters and/or some of the unique personality of this board during the interim.
