They are several miles outside of Rochester. Nice campus. They use the quarterly system instead of the semester system. People that I have talked to think that it is a good school. I will be able to say for sure in a few years as my son is planning to go there this coming fall. Personally I think that "good schools" are that because they get smart kids there and they do well when they get out (for the most part). As far as the technology part, many of their programs have a internship tied to it, so it becomes a 5 year school instead of a 4 year school. But when you graduate, you have 1 year direct experience working in that field.

If you have the test scores, GPA, SAT/ACT, and want another choice of universities, just go up the road from RIT to the University of Rochester. Great school for many fields, especially Optics, Medical Research, Eastman School of Music, Simon School of Buisness, and my sons major interest, Biomedical Engineering. They have just completed a two year project by adding a new Biomedical Engineering Building. Strong Memorial Hospital, located right across from campus, is heavily involved in reasearch. Just check-out UR's website for news articles about what they have discovered, and what they are currently working on. An excellent university!

Their baseball team is on the rise, and if you can play, and I emphasize play, you could probably play as a freshman. You are given that opportunity. There are two starting freshman field players and three pitchers who have had "innings." The coach is excellent, period!!!!
