Mesquite 5 7 2
Rockwall 3 8 3

Mesquite pitchers kept our hitters in check all night. Rockwall defense was flat while the Skeeter hitters were putting the ball through the infield and advancing runners.

Cody Fields pitched good - six K's in first 2 innings. Gave up some hits later but nothing big. Needed offensive support to spark the team.

We had chances - 2 out bases loaded in the 6th - didn't get the needed key hit.

tying run on in the 7th with big sticks up - Mesquite pitcher won the battle.

It'll be a better day tomorrow...

Mesquite played the game well. They are a mouthy bunch like teams I saw discussed on a thread a few weeks back. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

Their fans were loud, supportive of their team and sportsmanlike - a welcome group.

Rockwall wins game 2 and 3 to eliminate Mesquite and advance.

Game 2
Rockwall 6
Mesquite 1

WP: Travis Ballew
LP: Casey Goode

Game 3
Rockwall 8
Mesquite 6

WP: Richard Parson
LP: #2 (sorry missed his name and their Roster
is not updated on DMN
SV: Ryan Harris

Game 2 - both teams scored in the first.
All Rockwall from that point wit Ballew tossing
a 2-hitter.

Game 3 was excellent. Rockwall jumped out taking a 7-3 lead in the 3rd. Then the rains came causing a delay of maybe 1hr.

After the delay, Rockwall tacked on another run to go up 8-3 heading to the 7th.

Parson was removed in the 7th for a PH. Starting the bottom of 7, the Skeeters put 2 on and SS Trey Evans
parked one over the left-center fence with 1 out to pull within 2.

On the next play, Rockwall SS made a throwing error to put the runner on. Next hitter also hit to put runners on 1st and 2nd.

Rockwall made a pitching change bringing in Harris. Next batter hit a deep fly to center that looked like it had a chance to go out. Rock CF Jordan Hammontree chased it down. The Mesq runner on 2nd had taken off on the hit and already rounded 3rd. Hammontree thru to 2nd to double him up ending the game.

Rockwall meets Plano West Thu, Fri, Sat in Duncanville.
