I know I'm showing my ignorance, but what does "SQ" for experience mean on a roster?

I believe SQ stands for squad, and means that the player was on the baseball squad, but not part of the traveling roster.
More accurately, it means the player was on the squad but did not earn a varsity letter.
You will also see the designation 2L or 2VL, which means that the player has earned two previous varsity letters. Therefore, a junior with a 1L or 1VL, means one varisty letter earned, and the other year he was either squad, transferred in, or did not play.
