How do you score the batter when a hit ball hits the runner? I believe the put out for the runner goes to the closest fielder in this case the second baseman. Does the batter get scored a fielders choice?

It is scored as a hit. 10.05(a)(5)
Thanks for the info. It goes as a hit event though it would have been an easy ground out ?
I believe it is different if the ball has already passed an infielder such as the first baseman playing in for the bunt. If such a ball strikes the runner behind the first baseman, the runner is not out if struck by the ball.
Three Bagger, you are correct if that's the call the blues make. If they allow the play to continue, then you score the play that happens.
If they call dead ball, point to the base runner and call him out, place the hitter at first, credit him with a hit.
