Maybe the dumbest question I have asked, and, I know that's saying something...
Picture any major league field. From home to first, and from third to home, there's a dirt running lane. That seems to be the standard.
But, I've seen some other ball fields were this doesn't exist - and there's just all grass there in those areas.
Why is that? Is it a regional thing? Or, just grounds keeper preference? Or, is it less maintenance when you don't have the dirt cutout running lanes? Something else?
