Runners on first and third one out. Batter hits fly ball to left. Runner on 3rd tags and scores. Runner on first is caught off of first after runner on 3rd crosses home plate.

I have seen it call both ways in the last month, once the run was allowed the other time the run was not allowed.

My opinion is if the runner from 3rd crosses home before the runner on 1st is thrown out the run counts.

Am I right or wrong??

You are correct.

This is not a force play by definition, though it is often confused with one. The out is a time play. If the run crosses before the third out is recorded, it counts. If you saw it called the other way, you should appeal!

Sometimes folks will appeal the guy leaving third early even after three outs, in an effort to get the run off the board. This is a favorite trivia question known as the "fourth out" play.
