Yes it is in 'inner city' yet the campus is nice, and fairly safe I think, but johnj314 you live in that are so might have a different perspective.

In my opinion St Louis is a great sports / college town. SLU is a Jesuit university - I would compare it to Fordham in programs and rep. Strong pre med, strong business, very strong engineering; esp known I think for aeronautic (did I spell that right??) engineering.

Campus has had some wonderful changes and improvements over the years.

Academics are strong, private so $$ but not as bad as the Northeast, and they are very generous with merit scholarships.
If I remember, the baseball facility is decent, right on campus, and the basketball arena is fantastic.
SLU is a tough school academically, especially for the committment needed by an athlete.(according to Son's friend who is on the baseball team)

As was said earlier, the campus is very nice with nice blend of old and new buildings.

Field is pretty good, nothing special, but in a nice setting.

Basketball team went to NCAA tourney this year. No football, but big-time s****r (the sport we can't mention)

Campus is near some less than desirable neighborhoods, but is well-patrolled and very few incidents that I've heard of.

Metrolink is near, and good bus service,so getting around town is pretty easy.

Tons to do downtown. Cardinals, Blues, Rams.
Good restaurants, bars, etc on the Landing, Soulard area and The Loop, which are all very close.

Not sure, but I'm thinking it's $50k+/year.
Plenty of academic money available from what I've heard?
