This an outstanding hire for the young man. Sam played in our Area Code games and Goodwill Series, American and Japan. It was the Cooperstown Goodwill Series filmed to 1 million people in Japan. Before the game I mentioned to our American team we are in a "battle". In the 2nd inning a Japan HS hitter hit a deep fly ball to CF. Sam turned his back a raced to the brick wall and caught the ball and then "hit" the wall.

I raced to the OF Sam was "bleeding" from the forehead and he said "are we winning the war" as we walked off the field.

For all Phillies fans out there I hope you are correct. He came here as part of terrible regime (klintak / kapler) and I have seen no indication of improvements to date. Thank god they have both been removed, I think the bigger underlying problem is actually the owner but we will see.

Raising the bar should be easy, lets hope he can raise it a whole lot.

I understand Sam Fuld is supposed to be one of the bright young minds of baseball. But in the Phillies setup will he be the guy who gets Dombrowski’s coffee in the morning? What will he learn from Dombrowski other than how to wipe out a minor league system. He won’t learn analytics from Dombrowski. The Phillies don’t have much of a minor league system to wipe out for the purpose of winning.

The Braves and Marlins are trending in the right direction. The Mets have a new owner willing to spend money. The Nationals have established they’re a well run organization. The future looks bleak for the Phillies.
