Congrats on signing your NLI - I cannot ofer alot about the school, however I am sure you will enjoy the Baseball. You are going to a place with a great facility. Congrats and good luck!!

I know that they have a beautiful ballpark. I know that it is a great little college town with very good fan support. Huntsville is a nice Texas town with tall trees and good BBQ restaurants. Not too far from Houston, not too far from Dallas.
IMO you will be playing for one of the finest men I have ever known. Mark Johnson will win at SHSU and you will be the benefactor of being around a man of integrity and a man of GOD.
They are not going to sign 50 guys and cut 20 at Christmas. Mark signed you because he believes in you as a person and feels that you will get a degree from that school, but also win championsips. I don't know you, but you made one very wise choice.

My daughter attends SHSU and loves it. Small town atmosphere but just minutes from Houston. It is a commuter school to an extent with lots of kids leaving to go "home" for the weekend.

This is an up and coming program and will be very competitive. You will really enjoy the school and Huntsville. Sam Houston, first president and governor of Texas, settled in Huntsville because it reminded him of Tennessee. Lots of hardwoods, pine trees and hilly terrain.
Coach Johnson has a tremendous reputation in baseball circles and they have new baseball facilities. The rest of the coaching staff is energetic and come from winning programs.
You made a very good choice and best of luck.

My son has told me that you have made a great choice. He absolutely loves the coaching staff, as they may work them hard, but they continuosly are "teaching" the game.

The only thing I know about Sam Houston State is that it is Dan Rather's alma matter and I guess he has donated lots of money down there.
