Sam Houston State 2006 Early Baseball Signings
Zach Baker from Paris Junior College, Jorge Lara of San Jacinto College, and Tanner Rainwater of Stephenville High School have signed letters-of-intent during the early signing period to attend Sam Houston State University and play baseball next season for Head Coach Chris Rupp.

Baker earned NJCAA all-region honors and was selected to play in the Texas-New Mexico All-Star game in Waco as a freshman last year.

“Zach is a talented pitcher that will bring experience and poise to the mound for us next year” said SHSU assistant coach Chris Todd who coordinates recruiting for the Bearkats.

Lara was one of the top pitchers for head coach Tom Arrington's team at San Jacinto last year that finished as conference champions. Lara led the Gators with a 7-2 record and a 2.10 earned run average.

“Jorge brings a winning mentality to the mound that is hard to find. He has pitched in and won some big games for a championship team and that means a lot” Todd said. “With such a small number of seniors on this year's squad, it was important to sign the right guys, not a large number of them. We are very excited about these two young men and think they will be able to come in and contribute right away.”

Rainwater is a right-handed pitcher who also is an All-District player in football.

"Tanner Rainwater is a very athletic young man that should grow into a fine pitcher once he is able to focus all of his attention on baseball," Rupp said.

Never argue with an idiot.  They bring you down to their level.....then, beat you with experieince.
