Sam Houston State lands three on Wallace Award list....

Here's another player listed from DBU:

Junior Evan Bigley from Lancaster, Texas, has been named to the 2008 Pre-Season "Wallace Watch" list. The list consist of the top NCAA Division I collegiate baseball players throughout the nation. Bigley, who will be looked upon as the offensive leader for the 2008 season, is the lone Patriot to be put on the list.

Bigley last season as a Sophomore hit a strong .329, with 10 homeruns, and 61 RBI. Bigley, who can play all over the field, will spend majority of his duty anchoring the outfield during the season.

Mark Johnson will continue doing great things for SHSU and its players.

The Southland Conference was pretty tough last spring.

HBU is leaving NAIA and returning to D1. I wonder if the Southland might end up taking in HBU & DBU? I imagine there are some pretty complicated politics and considerations involved.

DBU is Division II, except in baseball, making it difficult for them to join a conference. I hope they find a way to do it, though.

Both Verbick and Bigley had great seasons for their respective summer league teams this past summer.
