That was a brutal slide. Sosa has been really hot recently and that is the way to cool yourself down. And jawing with the catcher is a bad way to add insult to injury. Slammin Sammy should be fined by MLB, in my opinion. 
I didn't see the play yet but the heck with the fine it means nothing to him.
He needs to understand that his actions have an impact on his ability to stand in the batter's box and his teammates to turn a DBL play.

Last night, Jose Guillen did the same thing to Chipper Jones leg in the game yesterday. Chipper's quote after the game " It's hard to deck someone when their apologizing to you." The Sosa slide was worse in my opinion though.
Sosa has apologized and the apology was accepted, per the Baltimore Sun.

If I were Chipper Jones...I would have given Guillen a baseball sandwhich. What a cheap slide. Potentially career ending. He clearly went way out of his way to take him out. Guillen may have apologised, but if I were him I would deck next time the 2 teams get together. Chipper allude to "what will happen next time they play."
