Do colleges use the essay SAT score to determine admission? I've heard they do. I've heard they don't since the score is subjective based on who's scoring. The reason I'm wondering is my son did very well on the Math and English, but only got a 510 on the essay.

Ahem - Eric - you might want to thank me for that Big Grin

Rob - the Rose Bowl was last Friday so the bet is now over. I do think you might want to keep it long term however as it looks nice next to your name Big Grin

Most likely the kids sit for more than one SAT. The rule of thumb is that the colleges will look at the HIGHEST of the scores - even if they come from different test dates.
My son did very well on the Math and English without preparation. Now that he knows what the test is like he's taking a prep course. He just needs 40 more points to be in very good position along with his gpa.
