CD, my thoughts and prayers will be with you during this procedure.

My dad just had quad-druple by-pass surgery back in Mid-January. The hardest 2-3 days following the surgery that me, my brother, and sister have ever endured. Our hopes hanging on every word from the Dr's and nurses. Here we are 3 months after the surgery and he is doing wonderfully well. He feels 20yrs younger and actually going to a gym with mom.

Someone earlier mentioned the technology today. It is truly unbelievable compared to where things were 10, 20, 30yrs ago. I had an uncle that had 2 heart attacks along with some aunts as well.

We will certainly miss you while you're gone.

I just want to say CD that you have been a rock for me over the last few years. Your PM's and your advice has been priceless. I have never met you in person. But I count you as one of my best friends. If you need anything and I mean anything you know how to reach me. I will be praying for you and I know God will take care of you. You are a very special person to many on this site. God Bless.
Dan,

Oh my goodness, I can't believe I didn't see this earlier today!!! I am praying at top speed for a terrific outcome for you tomorrow, and a comfortable and sure return to full health.

You mean a LOT to a lot of people around here, including me! Most folks around here probably don't know how much work you put in to keep this site running smoothly and gently help the few nuisance makers know about the rules. Friends, there are many months when I don't know how we would have kept things running smoothly without Dan's (ClevelandDad's) watchfulness and patience.

Get better soon!

And if you are still checking in tonight, can you please let me know who will be updating us on how you are doing???

God Bless,

Julie

Best wishes from Seattle, CD. Just saw my doc yesterday and got read the riot act on being merely borderline hypertensive. Out goes the salt and gotta plan on reducing the dip and already only occasional cigars. Sometimes life's simple pleasures have to give way to common sense. Look forward to your recovery and Stone Crabs baseball.
allowme to add a footnote here---- with regard to how we sometimes do not know how critical our heart functions are---it shows how what CD is saying

for some 12/15 years I have been subject to having TIA'S or mini stokes-- just about every specialisthad the same thoughts--residual fallout from the 7 meningitis attacks in my childhood--the heart always checked out fine--this past august I had the first serious stroke in what was to be a string of strokes--still the heart checked out fine--in january I had a major stroke but this time mheart for some reason was going crazy--no heart attack but it was totally out of sync and shooting off clots which caused the massive strokewhich in turn left me with no eyesight in my left eye along with severe damage to my left arm and leg which now has me in intense physical therapy to regain use of my left side which is getting there slowly but surely--originally they thought I would never walk again--- as CD says get checked out regularly-- BUT I will be bck on the field in the beginning of september--my team of doctors have instructed me , as of today to chill out this summer and do not push it and their instructions will be heeded----I can now walk with the aid of a walker and getting stronger every day but unknownst to all it was the heart malfunctioning all the time

Thanks for letting us know TR. I'm pleased to read that you and your doctors have now sorted things out and you are on the mend.

As hard as it will be to stay away from the field, please follow your doctors instructions.

Keep on this pace of getting stronger and stronger and keep us posted.

The best to you TR and thanks for sharing your story and your advice.

Sending prayers for your total recovery, TR. My 80 year old dad went through similar circumstance a couple of years ago. This spring for the first time, he has been able to attend several of his grandson's games! It's been a long road to recovery but I'm thinkin' you are a lot younger and I hope your recovery is much speedier.
As a nurse with a cardiac background, genetics is absolutely the most misunderstood risk factor for heart disease. We can control many things, but not the genes you're given. TPM gave a good example of that with her husband's story.

My own father died at 39 years old with a heart attack and he basically ignored positive tests, symptoms, etc. He had three other brothers that died with heart disease related illnesses including two having repeat bypasses in their 50s. Remarkably, not a single woman in his family has been affected - he was one of 10.

Don't take symptoms for granted and remember that time is muscle!!! Heart muscle nor your life is something to hesitate about. Get diagnosis and treatment if you have any symptoms at all.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts CD and your story!!
