In about 6 weeks son's school semester will be over. Although baseball is played into June, it's hard to believe he will be a JUNIOR. Wait, where did the time go?

What's happening? It was yesterday we packed up and headed off to South Carolina.
Is anyone else freaking out?

Yes, TPM, I'm a member of the "Freaking Out" club. My HS Sr has his first game tonight in low 40's temperatures, with a cold wind. This year feels totally different to me. We visited the campus of his chosen college over spring break. He really is about to leave. He's my oldest, so this is all new to me. With the weather so cold, I can't really get excited about the HS season. I'm more worried about his arm. Many MLB scouts will see him pitch this spring. No matter what happens, he has great college plans.

Its like I'm being pulled in two directions. Both are great, but its the uncertainty that's bothering me. While I wish the best for my son so he will be able to pursue his dream of MLB, I find myself drawn towards the college experiece. There's no right answer for his future and both options are exciting. Either way, he's gone in a few short months. With 2 more kids at home and limited funds, I just don't know how often we'll actually get to see him play.

Gosh... you got me going and look what happened! As I said, I'm "freaking out", too! Mostly in a parental, behind the scenes way. In other words, its all in my head and everything will work out the way its meant to be.
I think it would have hit me a lot harder if I wasn't so busy with another 12yr old again 10 yrs later! I have to put up with him whining, "dad, why don't you practice with me as much as you did with Chad?" That little squirt has way too much energy! I love him to death but he sure keeps me hopping. It's all good though, guess he's keeping me young! Thought I was on my last go around with Chad last year and it was really strange thinking that I was probably watching his last college game. But he decided to finish school so here we go again!
Fungo, those must have been SOME roses! dazzler
TPM,with a freshman it is easy to think I have plenty of time to watch him play. Then I get immersed in the game to game ups and downs, often worrying how he and the team will perform. Sometimes, I just have to stop and pinch myself and appreciate how special the opportunity is to watch my kid playing college ball. It is so much fun. I just hate to think it can go by so fast.
