Son is playing a 40 game summer season with 3 tournaments. Thus far we have had 5 games canceled with three different teams because they "double booked" games with another team. Funny how we get dumped in lieu of the other team? How can someone double book games when the schedules are made months in advance, along with all the computers we have to keep track of this stuff. I'm beginning to believe there is some motive for these cancelations. Many of the posters here are coaches running summer teams, does this happen often? Would it help if someone called ahead to confirm these things? We parents and the players rearrange our schedules for these games, we certainly deserve better than 2 hours notice.

We had the same problem this past Sunday and it was a "Club" tournament no one but our teams. How does that happen? We had to sit around from 1:30 til 4 while the other team finished their game and traveled to our field. Needless to say all that sitting around time did nt help us. We had umps at our field so where was the problem rooted from?

What city are you based in the Northwest?

It is important that your coach discusses with the other coaches which teams have a preciously history of "no shows". This was our formula during our Legion
years, however there were only 6 teams in the SF Bay area and the "no shows" were without games and disappeared from competition.

Pro scouts are a very good source of information for the "double booking" teams.

We are operating a special tournament August 1-2-3 in the Sonoma County "wine country".

No scouts or college coaches, no pressure and 3 games with SSK wood bats and a picnic at a local winery.
