Check out Rollins College, in Winter Park, Florida. They are DII playing in the Sunshine State Conference that includes Unversity of Tampa and Florida Southern, two national powers. Rollins seems to have a lot of NE players. It's very expensive, though, and I'm not sure of the level of support baseball receives from the College in terms of entrance and so forth. It's very selective.

Also, I believe Eckerd College in St. Petersburg has a lot of NE guys. Very small campus, beautiful location on the south end of St. Pete Beach, great marine biology program, Sunshine State Conference, too. Eckerd is a cut below Rollins academically and in cost. Better location, too, on the beach and near Tampa, St. Pete, Clearwater, Bradenton, and Anna Maria Island.

Check out Barry University in Miami, too, and perhaps Lynn University in, I believe, Boca. Same deals.

Just an FYI. Rollins is up in New England this week playing some DII's up here. I know they are playing Stonehill this week @ Bentley College (Waltham, MA) on DeFelice Field if you wanted to meet w/ the Coach. They definitely are a good starting point b/c Head Coach Jon Sjogren (Sore-gen) went to Rollins from Bryant University in RI where he built a nice program. He is a great guy. I met w/ him way back when when I was looking at colleges and went on to play him (when I was @ Saint Michael's) in college. In addition...I believe Jason Varitek's younger brother is his Head Assistant down there (@ Rollins).

Rollins College does an excellent job recruiting in the northeast. The Head Assistant/Recruiting Coordinator is Jonathan Krot. Jason Varitek works with the hitters and catchers there. Coach Krot was Coach Sjogren's top assistant while at Bryant his last 4 years. The two of them have been together now for 6 years. The both of them are outstanding individuals and they will have Rollins back at the top of the conference very soon. Other schools in Florida that recruit quite a bit in the North are Eckerd, Barry, Lynn, and Stetson. Other schools will look in the Northeast but they usually only take one or two every soften.
I'm sure that with their profile growing, mentioning Vanderbilt here might be more than what you were originally asking. Still, they are a University that stresses a national and really, world wide enrollment. I think the school has enrollment from almost every state in the country and has a strong enrollment of northern students.

The baseball coach, Tim Corbin, really made his mark while an assistant at Clemson but he's originally from the NE and recruits there actively. Some of the programs top players like Pedro Alvarez [Bronx, NY], Ryan Flaherty [Portland, Maine], Nick Christiani [Linden, NJ], and Cody Crowell [Mass.] are from the area and they have signed more players for 2007 from Connecticut and New Jersey. They also have another kid from New Jersey who's already committed to them for the 2008 class.

So they are a SEC program that will always look everywhere for student athletes..and definitely in the northeast area.
A good way to do some investigation on your own is to look at the schools current roster.....you can make a good judgment based on what the current makeup of the team is.......

So if your target southern school has nothing but in state position players and a few out of state pitchers that would be a great hint.......
