I got a question - why doesn't ESPN and ESPNews show at least the top 25 schools scores for baseball?

No offense to these schools but I don't care about the basketball scores for schools like

Arkansas Pine Bluff
Samford
Cleveland State
Siena

If they can put these basketball and football scores up why can't they put the top 25 baseball and softball scores.
saw the Stanford games. wow, stanford beat Nebraska handily in the first game. Had a 17-0 lead and then put a bunch of freshman in and ended up wining 17-7. Second game DIFFERENT STORY. Nebraska won that one easily. Eric Davis mowed down the 1st three batters in 2nd game for Stanford and then Nebraska's bats came alive. It's too early to try to figure teams out yet.

SDSU is out of the gate HOT!!! USD is ranked top 10 and was taken down SDSU and Tony Gwenn. Tony has some MAJOR weopons on that team. CASTRO is an all-around stud and great utility player. Green is on FIRE!!!!! First game 2 homers, 2nd game almost hit for cycle. Let's see if they can keep it going.

As parent of college player, and the father of a pitcher who has experienced an "epic meltdown," as you so eloquently put it, I will tell you that it can be a little disconcerting to come on this board and read something like you posted. I would hope that standard courtesy applies to naming college players, that being positives only or let them remain un-named. Remember that these young men are student athletes and not professionals. Please hold your criticism in check.

I toned down my post. In my excuberence for opening day in college baseball, I turned into a fan with attitude and I apologize. You are absolutely correct. It truely wasn't a meltdown. A meltdown is throwing wild pitches and not being able to control the ball along with other things. He just simply was getting hit and they all get hit from time-to-time.

Thanks Spizzle- good point, and thank you switchhitter for reconsidering your post.
We need to support our guys, the last thing we need to do pick them apart when they are doing what a lot cannot, playing baseball at the collegiate level.

Here is what my freshman son had to say after his collegiate debut this weekend "IT WAS THE MOST FUN I HAVE EVER HAD PLAYING BASEBALL - EVER!"
He put in four innings, 1K, 1SO, no runs, got his first save.

I really have never heard such happiness in his voice.

Good luck to all this season.

You are right SDSU is on fire. First game against one of the top pitchers(and he is legit) in the country, score SDSU 11-USD 2 Game two was shootout USD 17- SDSU 11, its a loss but we still put 11 up which is great. Game three last night SDSU 15 USD 2. Game 4 was cancelled until Monday. Lets see if SDSU can keep it up. Romereo got it all started on Friday night and they have kept it up since. Strass was definitely awesome on Friday and Sat Nate Solow did his job along with J.R Murphy too.

Good luck

Thank you switchitter. As you may know, Erik's father is a frequent poster here- not that he needs anyone to stand up for him.

Great news iheart. That's exactly the type of reaction that all us parents love to hear about. He worked hard for that save, and so have you. Great start to his college career!

I did not know the father posted on here. Even if I didn't know (dumb assumption), it still didn't make it right for me to comment like that. This board is amazing with all the families of the student-athletes coming in here and supporting and learning about HS baseball but as I am finding out, learning about college baseball and beyond as well. Great things to learn here! Thanks again for setting me straight.

Great weekend of SDSU baseball! I went to watch the Sunday game and on their web-site I just saw the all-mighty UGLY tarp pulled over the field.

I'll be watching Monday!

Nice recovery, switchitter. I missed your original post, but you fixed it. Good job.

Did you use TRhit's apology reference? Big Grin

Daytime temps of 35-42, 90% humidity, 15mph wind (steady). Standing water in the outfield (roostertails) with kids almost going hypothermic after diving in early innings and standing out in the cold for the rest of the game.

I didn't "brave the night games", but it snowed (flurries) both nights, with howling wind.

OfcrKID#1 (Air Force grad) showed up for two days to watch little brother against his former team. Nice stuff to watch the interaction, now that Karl has gone to the next level.

academy: thats way too cold for baseball. I must imagine that some of those kids are now sick from the weather and missing classes. That kind of weather usually postpones games but if it's a tournament, I'm finding out that college baseball just pushes ahead because of all the travel arrangements and cost so they go ahead and put the kids in peril in nasty weather like that. I wonder if they allow them to wear earmuffs instead of a hat?
