Sulphur Springs 9
Sherman 8

10 innings

We were up 7-1 in bottom of the 7th. They tie it on a 3-run HR. We score in the top of the 10th, but they rally in the bottom to win it. I just told my kids...
-no lead is ever safe in HS baseball,
-if you play/coach baseball long enough, this stuff happens to you,
-you have to tip your hat to the other guys, they never quit,
-there is nothing we can do about tonight now, flush it and move on to Friday.
-I know it's a punch line but Wash is so correct, that's how baseball go!
TX-Ump must be joking...it was an incredible game. Coppell did make 3 errors and SLC made 2, but there was a 40 mph wind blowing from 4-7pm yesterday.

The game went extras with Coppell scoring 4 in the top of the 8th. Then SLC scored 2 and had the bases loaded with no outs in the bottom of the inning, but failed to score again ending with a K and a 1-2-3 DP. Congrats to Coppell on a big win in a very good game.

That's the way it's done. Enjoy the wins and acknowledge the losses with class. Nice job doubleday.

Rock Dad - so who is Reid Waller that the DMN listed as the LP??

Reid Waller is nobody.
Actually, he played in the JV game. Waller is not listed on the varsity roster.

Seems the home team turned in the box score incorrectly or a mistake was made by DMN.

Jake Thompson started for Heath. Went 6 innings then game way to Jovan.

Unfortunately now the DMN stats are hosed and it's important because Thompson is sitting at #2. By my calc his ERA goes from 1.26 to 1.95 with the 6 ER in 6ip so he should move below Schwanke but instead he'll stay where he is.

Nothing against Jake BTW. Not his fault bout stats. He's a fantastic player pitching and hitting - hit a monster HR if you saw the video - and him and Jovan will take that team far this year I expect.

But the DMN stats are only as good as what coaches turn in.

Another reason that stats are useless at this level.

I bet a kid from Skyline wins batting title.

It was a comment... don't be a putz

Umpires are used to getting the last word...I'll leave the name calling to you. It must feel pretty good for you to be on the other end of the insults.

Well played Doubleday!
Here is full video of Jake Thompson's long hr in the Rockwall vs Heath game.

Jake's Long Home Run

Watch in full screen mode - I slowed the video where you can see the ball land and bounce on the roof near the smaller pole sticking up from the roof.
------------
Reid is a great kid and good player. Played with my younger at 11-12yr. We look forward to battling with him and the other Heath boys over the next 3yrs.

I don't think anyone said he was a "bad player", just that he didn't play. Perhaps someone from Heath is trying to keep pristine those oh so beloved stats.

I am betting your last sentence is correct. It will be interesting to see if the Heath folks correct the DMN.

By the way Jake threw the ball well at times just seemed to struggle with the breaking ball breaking to much in the heavy wind.

Money for Rockwall kept Heath off balance most of the night and deserved the win.
