I agree Funneldrill. The Wakeland/Frisco game will be fun to watch but I don't think the outcome will be the same as the first game. The Wakeland bats are hot right now and Frisco doesn't have any firepower outside of that little pitcher/ss who hits lead off for them. They are much improved but at Wakelands level, IMO.
Went to the Plano vs Allen game to see how allen would shape up. Fact remains without Fanning on the mound for Allen they arent very good. They threw a sophomore that was maybe hitting 77 against the best team in the area and one of the best in the state. Ended up having to throw 2 more guys that werent much better. On a side note, my ears are still ringing from all the profanity that the Plano fans were screaming at Allen and their coaches.
You're about right on the radar readings (I chart pitches for the JV and have my gun with me, so when I stay for V games I use it)... the sophomore is the #2 P right now, and he has been throwing very well (e.g.: gave up 2 ERs to PESH in 7 innings, just one of a number of quality outings he's had). Plano hit the ball extremely well last night. He's consistently 79-81, and typically has excellent command of 3 pitches. I tip my hat to the Plano hitters, more than anything.

Enjoyed meeting Bisacca's dad, and sat near some friendly Plano fans in the center section. It was all very respectful and good-natured banter there.

Fortunately for me, that was not near the "student" section which must be where your ears got blistered. From what I could tell, there was some going both ways (not from coaches, but fans to fans). Couldn't tell anything specific that was said.

Nice ballgame there Triple. The Harris kid threw a good game.

Harris is performing nicely for the Lions this year. After spending his time behind Lee/Lipka .. he's getting his shot this year and making the most of it. He even hit 2 HRs against Highland Park on Friday night. All around good kid.

Team rotation is not very deep. Lions have a lot of young kids trying to learn to play at this level.
FD, Congratulations on GREAT season so far! My father (who now lives in Bonham) has been going to all the Sherman games this year for the first time since I graduated from there 25+ years ago. He calls me every week to talk about the Bearcats! Just want you to know that your team is making an old man very happy!

15 innings. Both teams plated a run in 1st inning... then nothing til the top of the 15th. Well-pitched game by both staffs + very good defense throughout.

I do have to say thought Allen should have won it in the 11th. Leadoff batter doubles, then instead of bunting the runner over with small ball, that they played every time they got a runner on base the previous 10 innings, they elect to swing away, get 2 deep flys to LF. If they bunted over the first flyout would have won it. Just sayin..........but very well played game by both teams indeed.

I understand your thinking, but as a select level coach, I know there are plenty of decisions that can be second-guessed (I'm sure plenty of mine have been.) In this case, as you said, it had been tried over and over the past 10 innings... without much success, given 1 run had been scored. Also had the 4-hole hitter up, who has been called on to bunt before, but is also a hot hitter. Sometimes you play hunches over the "percentage play", especially when the percentage play has not been very successful on repeated occasions ... at least not on this night.

The first fly ball to LF was very deep (warning track), and at Allen, that is deep enough to advance a runner from 2B to 3B... especially with who was on 2nd, and given the fact the LF was not able to get behind the ball when made the catch.

Second fly ball scores him if there is a tag on the play before. Then again, by not tagging, you win the game if that deep fly ball drops. Catch-22.

Whatever the case, it was a crazy game with both teams having multiple opportunities to win earlier, both teams pitchers getting some crucial outs, and some very good defense played as well.
