Here is the situation from another board. How do you guys call this?

YOU MAKE THE CALL:

RUNNERS ON 2ND AND 3RD WITH 1 OUT.

LINE DRIVE HIT BY BATTER TO CENTERFIELDER THAT MAKES A GREAT CATCH FOR OUT #2.

RUNNER FROM THIRD TAGS PROPERLY BUT IN THE FIELD UMPIRE'S JUDGEMENT, THE RUNNER FROM 2ND LEAVES EARLY AND AN APPEAL IS MADE AND THE RUNNER THAT WAS SECOND IS CALLED OUT FOR THE 3RD OUT. IN THIS INSTANCE THERE IS NO DISPUTE THAT THE RUNNER FROM 3RD CROSSED HOME PRIOR TO THE APPEAL BEING MADE.

DOES THE RUNNER THAT TAGGED PROPERLY RUN COUNT OR IS THE RUN DISALLOWED.

Thanks for your responses.

Oh, please.

Would you mind much if I forwarded this post to Wikipedia as an entry under "over-reaction"?

We all have little pet peeves. That happens to be one of mine. What's the big effin' deal?

Using timing play instead of time play is very common buut incorrect. It is the same in s****r, it is offside but in football it is offsides. It is used wrong all the time. Jimmy was simply pointing it out to increase your knowledge. I made the same correction at our rules clinic Sunday.

Jimmy was being condescending and he knows it! He is just a turd...

First of all, I made the correction, not Jimmy (only because I beat him to it). It was intended to be helpful, not condescending. It is why this forum exists. I have been corrected before, and I will be corrected again, and each time I am grateful for it. I would much rather make a mistake here than on the field.

DR your post was fine and I should have not referenced you in the post... you got the message across without being pompous and patronizing like Jimmy the Turd always seems to do... I guess he has never done or said anything wrong... be constructive not arrogant...

Just ignore - or refer them to the ****-umps.org website. I have worked with **** umps before; I see their work. But, by God, they know that rule *** was changed on Feb 8th 1997. They know the rule application for that one situation that never happens ... but they're ready when it does. When they were born, they threw away the mold. "Shoulda kept the mold and sh*tcanned the baby".

But, arrogantly speaking, most baseball people know that the proper baseball reference isn't "Turd", it's "Horsesh!t", as in "Jimmy, you're horsesh!t."

Wink

I noticed you used two E's in the word "comment" above. That just happens to be a pet peeve of mine. I crack myself up.

And I respect that, so I fixed it.

I wasn't responding to you - but someone else.

I'm sorry. I apparently was confused by the fact you quoted me in your post that wasn't responding to me.

Please forgive me, I'll try harder.
