Scoring/Ruling on Runner hit by batted ball

I vaguely remember the ruling on this is for the hitter to get a base hit.
Is that correct?
(runner is out - hitter goes to first)

Yes that is correct. The runner who interferred is out the batter is awarded a single and any forced runner advances while all other runners return to the base they were on at the time of the pitch.
