Scout Ball

It's been a few years since son played in it but I just did a search using "socal scout league" and most of the familiar teams come up.  You probably have to contact them individually.  Getting late but for the right player or need, you may find a spot. 

If you're not familiar, you'll find lots of very high caliber players in this league.  It is run in a showcase format with limited number of batter-per-innings and lots of P rotation.  Definitely a different gig if you haven't experienced it before.  There is both pro and college scout attendance, depending on the rosters.  Lots of scouts at the tourney.

Thanks going to take a look at the one in Escondido.

I can tell you that the Rays scout team (holding tryouts in Escondido) was a fantastic experience for my son. Most of the players went on to play at the next level - either college or directly into pro ball. Of those who went to college, many were drafted out of college. Very hard to make the team - especially if you aren't really known in some way shape or form. There were scouts and recruiters present from the very first tryout till our last game.

Scout ball is a very very different experience from travel ball or showcases. I remember our very first "game" (no one really kept score and games go until the pitchers finish - sometimes 20+ innings). Drove three hours each way for exactly eight pitches - one inning and he was done. My son did very minimal traditional competitive travel ball (stopped in ninth grade) and went to a very small non-competitive high school; that scout team launched him.

I Actually played with the coach of the Red Sox scout team in college. I tried contacting him through the web site but kept getting error message. I will look at the Cards as well, thanks.

Well, there's a great inside contact!  Hopefully, he can help you get connected.  I do know the Cards have historically been the top program, getting 300-500 kids trying out for two squads.

Just hope he remembers me. I was an incoming freshman and he was a senior.
