Our HS coach simply grids the outfield and infield into three sections, creates a legend for ground ball, fly ball, line drive, creates a legend for fastball, curve, off speed, creates a legend for pitch location, and plots the results for each batter on a single individual sheet (a separate field diagram for each hitter). After they scout a team a couple times, and have 8-10 entries per hitter, it is pretty amazing how quickly a picture of that hitter's tendencies forms. By tournament time, they often have 3-4 games scouted for the top teams expected to be faced.
