Sears? Who Knew

Thanks for the news tip HaverDad. I was able to catch that segment, and I will continue to shop Sears because they support our troops. That's the kind of corporate policy that deserves a plug.

Way to go Sears! Ted Williams was the greatest ---- in many ways. USMC pilot in 2 wars, baseball player, an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a great spokesman for Sears. I'm sure there is more than one "Ted Williams" sporting goods item (sold by Sears) in my house.

Beyond the obvious "right thinking" involved, I am most impressed by the fact that the company hasn't shamelessly promoted this policy for marketing benefits.

(I got the free shipping for a $99 online purchase).

The company I have worked for for 29 years does the same. We are a helicopter operator, so you are looking a quite a few helicopter pilots and mechanics who have been called up since Desert Storm until the present. I don’t want to hijack the thread, but I can’t let the opportunity go by without bragging on PHI and its employees. They will gather at the PHI facility, Santa and his elves (PHI employees) will land in a helicopter and treat the children to Christmas gifts on their Christmas Wish List. I could go on and on about the employees of PHI and the company itself, but I will stop. Their generosity to the Acadiana area and to its own employees when in need is unbelievable.

All the while corporate America is portrayed by the media and some politicians as big, bad, greedy, rich, "fat cats" that prey on the helpless.

Seems like there is plenty immediate evidence in support of that thought.

My career experiences tend to confirm it.

Certainly beats the heck outta flying in my private jet to Washington to ask for a few billion to get back where I can just pay my employees. .

It is great to hear about an Upstanding Group, because I am SICK to death of the greedy ones!

FWIW, I bought 4 baseball team Suburbans in a row, so I feel like I earned an opinion!
