This never made my radar before... but,

Even in these hard times, Sears, as reported in the final story of tonight's NBC Evening News, continues to maintain a longstanding program of covering pay differentials for any employee called into military service. The program also holds serving employees' jobs open until their return.

Its easy to talk about doing the right thing, but frequently rare in real life.

Not many Sears in France, but I just logged onto www.sears.com right now. Two days still left to get free standard shipping delivered by the 24th.

Way to go Sears! Ted Williams was the greatest ---- in many ways. USMC pilot in 2 wars, baseball player, an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a great spokesman for Sears. I'm sure there is more than one "Ted Williams" sporting goods item (sold by Sears) in my house.

louisiana09, I'm impressed plus sounds exciting.

From PHI website:
Apart from its normal operations, PHI has also become famous for other humanitarian aspects of its business.
Our crews have rescued hundreds of persons from the perils of floods, storms and other disasters. Our helicopter crews lifted 216 people from rooftops and trees in Puerto Rico when Hurricane Donna devastated that country. Always available for emergency use in the areas where they operate, PHI helicopters and employees have flown Red Cross relief
personnel to disaster sites, supported rescue operations and flown public officials to survey the damaged areas. PHI rescues are as varied as they are numerous, and the company prides itself on continuously striving to be a corporate example to its employees and the areas where it operates.

I don’t want to hijack the thread, but I can’t let the opportunity go by without bragging on PHI and its employees. This past Thanksgiving, the PHI Food Drive fed 840 needy families in the Acadiana area by donating food baskets which included a Turkey and all the fixings. Today will be a very special today for 35 foster children. They will gather at the PHI facility, Santa and his elves (PHI employees) will land in a helicopter and treat the children to Christmas gifts on their Christmas Wish List. I could go on and on about the employees of PHI and the company itself, but I will stop. Their generosity to the Acadiana area and to its own employees when in need is unbelievable.
Certainly beats the heck outta flying in my private jet to Washington to ask for a few billion to get back where I can just pay my employees. .

It is great to hear about an Upstanding Group, because I am SICK to death of the greedy ones!

FWIW, I bought 4 baseball team Suburbans in a row, so I feel like I earned an opinion! Wink

Congrats lousiana09 - Job well done!
