Son is doing some pinch hitting right now – maybe gets an at bat every 5 games or so. Usually late in game. Any advice on how to stay prepared but not push.

His bet bet would be to get someone to pitch to him on a ball field at least a bucket a day.

Have him work a bunt session bunting down the lines.

He'll maintain timing, eye contact and swing mechanics. Further, hitting on a field will give him a realistic idea of what his contact is producing.

I always reccommend hitting for power the other way in these sessions.
