While it would be fair and make sense to take into account strength of schedule, I believe that coaches actually pretty much go by records. Sure there is some variance, but, for the most part, wins and losses are the biggest and sometimes sole factor.

For example, there is a team in the CSL who plays an absolutely cupcake non conference schedule and then barely makes it into the top half of the conference when that part of the season begins. Yet, these Wolves got a 2 seed, even though they have shown little promise since destroying many, many inferior opponents.

I agree that most coaches will go with win/loss record. I think this on-line system also takes away from a coach lobbying for his team or a team in his conference. Plus I feel it is way too early to seed these teams, A team can get hot or cold at any time, another week would make for a more fair or accurate decision on were a team should be seeded

Why doesn't a 1 seed get to host a regional?

Because for the most part, the regionals are decided before the seeds are done. At least downstate that's the way it is. For example, our softball regional is being hosted by the high school here in Waterloo. Waterloo softball has won all of maybe 10 games in 10 years. We actually got "stuck" with the regional because the other schools in the regional wouldn't host it. Down here at least, the regionals are nearly identical sport to sport year to year.

As for the seedings themselves, how would you seed a team that is 9-6 and 0-2 in the conference? Makes it kinda difficult if you don't go off perceived strength of schedule?
