The only thing I would add is to possibly send a letter of introduction via email as well. (you can let them know about the package you are sending). Email also allows you to post links to your showcase profiles, any PR you have received as well as a team website if you have one.

We found that most recruiting coordinators were much more in tune with email vs. snail mail. Another benefit to email is that you can typically attach a notification to let you know when the email recipient received your email. Plus they are usually pretty quick to respond one way or the other.

Good luck!

Any other advice anyone can give me? I really want to play college ball and with a lot of letters I've been receiving I think I have a legit shot.

Baseball Pat - it is nice to see a young man who is motivated and willing to do what it takes to play at the next level Smile Your ideas are all good ones and should be pursued.

Since you asked for other ideas here's mine. I believe personal contact has the most impact and will let you know if the interest is truly genuine. The letters give you an opportunity to call the coach and ask what he knows of your game and what it would take to play there. If he hems and haws about things then maybe he has not actually seen you play before and perhaps the letter was sent to every player at some tournament on a given day. On the other hand, if you hear genuine excitement in his voice and he tells you why he thinks you might be a good fit then you will have a much better foundation for which schools to pursue more aggresively.
Baseball Pat, excellent ideas.

Make sure all your letters of introduction and emails are personalized. You don't want the coaches thinking they're getting a mass mailing. A handwritten note might score some brownie points too.

Continue to keep in contact with these schools even if they don't contact you back. Send them regular email updates with your spring and summer schedules, contact names and numbers, etc.

Best wishes with your "marketing campaign!"
Great plan. Good advice from the other posters too. Read through the other posters responses and go with your plan OR you can fine tune it with some of their ideas. I suggest you expand your mail out to include other schools you want to target. I think two posters have given you great advice when they said:

1. Corky9999 said: Be sure to start a file for each school that you are interested in. Besides keeping a copy of correspondence, also keep track on each file a record of any phone contacts and visits. You will find this helpful down the line.

Good Luck!

When we were going through this, we also put together a "Bio" sheet, that way the coach had everything on one page instead of looking through stuff to find...email address, home address, phone #'s etc. we also included basics like height, weight, b-day...SAT/ACT scores, GPA...and highlighted both academic and athletic achievements (even those not baseball related) be sure to include your school address w/guidance counselor and head coach and lastly a list of baseball contacts w/#'s if available...old and present coaches, scouts , hitting/pitching instructors and I agree ask your coaches/instuctors for a letter of recommendation...good luck....I see you sent a copy of your report card ask your guidance counselor for a copy of your transcripts as well
I agree with Rick K - we also put together a BIO sheet - it was easy to read and convenient. When listing previous coaches - be sure and call that coach and ask if you can put him down as a contact and what phone number he would like you to put as a contact number.

I used this website a ton and still do - there are a lot of great ideas on questions to ask coaches here too. Coaches commented to son how prepared and thorough he was.

You are off to a great start and an exciting time ahead of you!

If you would like to see a copy of son's bio - send me a pm.
