My son’s team had someone take action pictures of the seniors during the year, either batting or pitching. Then, they had one printed and framed for each senior.

As the seniors were announcer they would walk out on the field where they were handed their picture by the coach and a picture of the coach and the senior together was taken at this time. Their future plans were also announced, such as what college they planned on attending, what they wanted to major in, or if they had signed scholarships to play baseball somewhere. Then, the senior’s parents were announced and they came forward, and the mom was given a flower and a picture was taken of the senior and his parents. Also, a picture of all the seniors together was taken after they were all announced. We got some really nice pictures from all this.

We had a parent at our school take the pictures and the prices were very, very reasonable. I thought it was nicely done.

Good luck.

We (parents and siblings) always walk on the field with the boys. Each boy presents his mom with a rose and each boy receives a gift. While each family makes it's way from home dugout to the plate, the announcers usually read something written about the player and his experience. We've done it a couple of different ways - with the coach writing something or the player themselves writing something. One year, they taped each mom with a recording to her son - THAT was a tear jerker!!!

As far as gifts to the players, there have been a variety of them. Last year was the best year ever IMO! The team presented each player with a sketch of their uniform along with a glove, ball, and bat. The only mistake with one of the pictures, was they forgot my son was a lefty, so the glove is a left handed glove! Smile

Another one of my favorite gifts was from one of the parents last year. He had an aerial shot taken of the field and he framed a small print of this for each of our ten seniors and framed a really large one for the head coach. I think this is one of my son's favorite possessions!

Enjoy the night!
My son's team would have the coach order each senior a duplicate of the home jersey and we would take them out to Hobby Lobby and have them put in shadow boxes. Those were presented with action shots and a group pic of the seniors (framed).

While we walked on the field each young mans plans were announced and any awards or records they held also. The moms got a flower and dads got a signed ball.

Previous years they always had a junior mom decide what to get as gifts but the year Matt was a junior I was team mom and I chose the jersey idea and it has stuck...plus I picked the team mom for his senior yr so she knew what was expected. Wink(little hidden agenda there).

The thing about the jerseys is you have to order them early b/c they take some time to make and we had their last names put on the ones in the shadow boxes.

The last two years the senior boys and parents have been presented with a large (16 x 20) framed action shot of the player. I know there was some expense with the pictures. A local photographer took the pictures and gave the coach a discount, I believe. The parents escort their son onto the field to shake hands with the coaches while announcer reads about their accomplishments, awards, goals, plans, name, parents' names, position, # of years in program, to whom they would like to give thanks, etc. The players and their parents make an arch halfway between pitching mound and the plate, standing next to their covered pictures. The mothers are generally given flowers.

The first year the senior boys recieved the pictures, some other mothers stood by the easels and revealed the pictures. This year junior teammates held the pictures.

Coach generally does not like to make a big deal of the night. In fact this year, we held the festivities (walking on field, etc.) after the game was over.

Of course, after the game, the players, parents, extended family, including JV players and parents, etc. have a cook-out.

Balloons are used to decorate along with signs to help create a celebratory effect!

Love this idea ~ in fact was discussed at beginning of season. . . coach has been "let go" by principal for next year. . . so one idea early on was to have names put on away jersey's, and at season end, frame and present to players at the banquet.

Received last night letter from a parent who is coordinating this ~ and the point made was that we would have to replace the jersey's.

Great minds think alike Smile Smile Smile Smile

One idea I had a few years ago, was to have each of the teammates (and coaches) write a favorite memory or thought they had about each senior player. I then typed them all up ( each senior play received the comments written about him) with the person making the comment, added pictures, laminated the pages, and spiral-bound into a book. Didn't get it finished in time for Senior Night, but made the presentation at awards banquet at the end of the year. I know several mothers mentioned how much they treasured that momento.

Diamond darling~

Now, that is what has happened in the past. . . and my son is currently a junior. . . we will see about next year, since we have a new coach coming in. . . hopefully, some of the traditions will continue. . . and it will remain a special night. . .

Sorry you don't even get team pictures. . . doesn't sound like the coach is even approachable to suggest some of these activities.

Have heart. . . take pictures yourself, make the boys feel special and still enjoy all the memories that are being made.
