well michael taylor of apoopka is the top player this year in central florida. He is one of the top players in the whole nation. signed with stanford.

Ryan Horton and Pat Wandtke are two solid, polished lefthanders who signed with UCF.

Ty Prior has a power arm and signed with USF.
Robert Palencia is a right hander with some good, raw stuff.

I know Oviedo has a pitcher..i think his last name is Thorne, but was injured and i havent heard anything about him yet.

That is all i know for now off the top of my head.

The 2005 class looks promising with Cody Neer, Luke Grienke, Kent Mathess (sp?) Derek Johnson
The Oviedo kid is Jeremy Thorn. Had arm surgery in late summer I believe,, would be surprised if he saw any action this season. He could be an excellent D1 pitcher if recovers.

Lake Mary has a few already signed:

Tyson Auer SS with a rocket arm,, signed with UCF.

Paul Cinder - 6-8 rhp with a huge upside down the road,,,, should have a big senior season.

Scott Eckard - LHP signed with USC - Spartanburg,,,,, nasty movement on ball!

Ty Powell - 2b/ss - late growth now 6-2 170 and signed with USMA West Point. Great hands and a utility pitcher as well.

Ty Buckner - 6-4 230 1b with huge power,,, with a good senior season could be drafted or sign D1.

Lake Brantley -

Matt Dobbins -- LHP and great bat signed with Jacksonville Univ. This kid can play!

Jeff Dietz --- 3b signed with Brown
Jarad Gower - Pitcher Colonial HS, Orlando in 2003. Righty with outstanding control of Slider, Curve and Change. I believe he has relocated to Timber Creek HS, Orlando for this year, but its my understanding he may not be eligible due to local School Board rule regarding transfers and one year waiting period.

Daniel Crain - Catcher Cypress Creek HS, Orlando - Team One has him ranked 23rd '04 Catcher in country. Outstanding defensive catcher who led team batting avg in 2003 and led CC to 2nd consecutive District title last year.

Deryck Johnson - Outfielder, Lefty Pitcher Cypress Creek, Orlando. Although he is a Junior, he is a player to watch. Solid outfielder with big power potential in bat. His key to baseball future, however, is as a Pitcher - a lively fastball and a nasty change. CC only used him once in 2003 on mound, coming in cold in 1st inning of District Championship with 2 on and no outs to shut out Colonial in complete game effort.

Robert Palencia is one to watch for, but you will have to head to S. Florida as he's been there since June of 2002.

Kyle Bowley, Righty Pitcher, Apopka HS I believe he is signed to go somewhere in NC. Strong young man who can get you 7 solid innings on the mound and a couple of extra-base hits to provide his own run support. Plays well at third also. Good head for the game. In my opinion, he will probably be Apopka's number one this season.

"Stats don't make great players, great players earn great stats."
Diamond already mentioned Michael Taylor, and he's from central, not south Florida in any case.. No doubt about that player!

Yobo, may I ask that you lose the caps. It's the internet equivalent of shouting, and makes the post hard to read on several levels.

From 'Nice Guys Finish Last' by Leo Durocher:

Baseball lives at the center of a never-flagging whirl of irreconcilable opinions.
At Florida Christian School in Miami:

Chris Borgognoni CF 6'0" 185. Chris is a five-tool player, who hits for average and power, has been clocked at under 6.6 in the 60, with a strong, accurate arm from the field. He was MVP at a top Miami 6A team last year as a 16 year old junior;

Kyle Preshong P 6'3" 180. Kyle is a tall, "projectable," pitcher with a mid-80s fastball and a strong complement of offspeed pitches. His long arms provide great leverage, and his velocity should continue to develop as he fills out.

Eric Hortsman P 5'10" 170. Eric was a standout performer at a 6A school last year. As a senior he should be dominant, using his mid-80s fastball and kneebuckling offspeed stuff. He really knows how to pitch. He also is one of the better hitters on the team and looks to be a regular in the lineup when not on the mound.

Aurelio Cicard P 6'0" 200. Aurelio was the top pitcher at a Miami 6A power last year, and he has continued to improve. His fastball is regularly in the upper 80s with an occasional 90. His curveball is virtually unhittable. Like Eric, he will be in the lineup (1b) when not pitching and has a short, powerful swing resulting in a many extra base hits.

As usual, Ernie Padron (Head Coach at FCS) has done a great job with these guys. Expect to see all of them excelling in College, or even pro, baseball in the future.
