How does everyone feel the umpires have done? This is the first set of series I can ever recall where they have missed or blown two or more calls per game ie. Lima's foul ball bunt hit, and the phantom tag on Shannon Stewert and David Ortiz. Last night Foulke throws a ball down the middle thigh high and the ump calls it a ball!

Usually the replays show the umps are dead on. It never ceases to amaze me how the six guys paid to make these important calls can completely blow it sometimes.

Me thinks that the umpires in the NY/Boston series receive a grade of C to this point. There have been several missed calls at the plate and in the field!!! To their credit they reversed 2 calls last night, both calls going against the Yankees in Yankee Stadium!!!! That took some big ones!!!! But it also means that they got the call WRONG the first time!!!! I know it is not an easy job, but I think that they can do better. So they get a C!!
I always hate to observe umpires personal strike zones.

Many on here have admitted to such for a number of factors including height, etc.

It's part of the game.............

But, this past weekend, at a college intrasquad series, college ump for twenty years, had the worst I have ever seen even though consistent.

Only strike called ALL day was over the RH hitter's outside ball width 1/3 of the plate between the the knee and upper thigh. Nothing on the outside black.

Same inside postion to the lefties.

It was interesting to watch as the pitchers tried to adjust to it. It took almost the whole game, but both pitchers finally did, and the hitters, too.

LONG game.
