It's funny - I had breakfast just this morning with the mom of a Westpoint senior. She and her husband were both enlisted officers and she is amazed at the outstanding educational opportunities her son has had there and the job opportunities he will have in the future.
While Westpoint does offer an excellent education, it is certainly not for everyone. The mom shared how certain rules have actually gotten tougher since her son entered Westpoint. For example, cadets now have to wear uniforms on flights back home, whereas they used to be able to wear street clothes. I asked why the rules had gotten more stringent and she replied, "They aim to make you.....or break you."
My son was recruited by one of the service academies, but he had a hard enough time with the rules at his private school. I told him he'd probably be court-marshalled at the Naval Academy!
