I saw on Baseball America that Severna Park made the preseason top 25.

25: Severna Park (Md.) HS, 22-2 (21)
The Falcons have recently begun to dominate Maryland 4-A competition, winning three state titles since 2003 (the only three in school history). They return two all-state players and Maryland signees in catcher Alex Ramsay (.362-7-22) and shortstop Kyle Convissar (.481-8-31).

Congrats to the Anne Arundel boys.

That #25 ranking lifts all programs in Maryland, I believe.

SP is a very well-rounded team, maybe their best in a long, long time (including last year's 4A champs). Some well known players, but also some pretty darn good less well-known players, too.

And, a head coach and staff that's as good as there is in the state.

They should be tough to beat. But, as was said above, the season's end is when it counts.
My nephew played at South River and told me this this is the norm for the talented baseball players in the South River District to transfer and it has been happening for years. Before the season even started Morris transferred to DeMatha, Oliver transferred to St Marys and the pitching coach transferred to Mt St Joe. Smallenbroek the year before transferred to Spalding and if you go even further back there are several D-1 players that normally would have attended South River but transferred out of thier system. He said that the main reason is because of the reputation of the old school head coach who is stuck in a time warp and will not let go to a younger hungrier coach whom they have had lined up for several years. It is a no brainer for a talented player to transfer from South River to a private if he indeed wants to play beyond High School. The coaches at DeMatha & Spalding do a great job at getting thier talented players to the next level in college if that is thier goal. The South River coach could care less if you played for him & what you do after high school. DeMatha & Spalding average 3-4 baseball scholarships a year where South River may get one every 5 years. I think Morris and the others made a hard but smart choice in order to further thier education and baseball careers
