I gotta say ... these rain outs are KILLERS! Practically EVERY PG tournament in FL and GA has been badly affected by Mother Nature this year -- and rain was a factor last year as well. My son is 15 ... so no real consequences ... but I gotta believe, if he was 17, playing in the 17U WWBA, this would suck!

I really think PG should consider splitting these massive-draw tournaments in two. Have one in FL or GA, and have the other somewhere else. I would suggest Dallas, because I know we have TONS of fields, and I live here ... but if not, AZ or CA ... or maybe even in the upper Midwest.

Would that be a bad thing for the scouts? Probably not the college scouts, who I assume are favoring games in their territory. MLB scouts? Maybe ... but I believe they focus on Jupiter in October.

No easy answer, but when you are up to 280 teams in the 17U WWBA and 272 teams in the 16U ... it just seems to make sense to diversify. Too much at stake.

Jerry Ford runs a quality organization. But he can't play God. He can't control where and when it rains. There is a similar PG event in AZ. There are also PG regional events around the country. There are other non PG showcases.  It's not like a kid will go unnoticed because it rained for a week.

This is not something that is new, have lived in FL and every summer we had postponed or rained out tournies, games all of  the time. I think that when son was in HS and attended PG in Atlanta it poured all week but can't remember if we got all of the games in.

My son plays in Erie Pa and they have had quite a few rain outs since the season began.  It's the summer, expect rain.

Having sat through Texas and Midwest heat for tournies and HS, CWS and pro ball, GA and FL are much better options will take the east coast anyday of the week, rain or shine. When son went to Omaha, it RAINED consistently and games were delayed.

One year in Jacksonville in May, for the ACC tourney, Clemson had to play a game beginning at 12 midnight due to rain all day. And be up early the next morning for the championship game!

One year it rained so bad in OCTOBER in jupiter for the PG wood bat tourney that they had to bring in helicopters to dry the back fields at Roger Dean.

This is the summer and it rains a LOT in the south in the summer, heck I just returned from  NJ and it rained all week.  And it was HOT, hotter than here.

If your kids play baseball, this is how it is, it has always been this way and will always be.
