No. The time to change out a player is at the end of the season. If you brought the player onto your team, coach him, teach him, talk to him, and help him get to the next level that's what a coach's responsibility is toward a player.

If the player doesn't respond, or is lazy, lacks doscipline and self-motivation deal with that one on one and get your captain(s) to help keep the player on track.

Baseball is a game of skills...has nothing to do with "feelings". What you feel about a player is not as important as what you think of his skills...just remember that.
No way! I know of a storied baseball program (the likes of Reggie Jackson, Al Kaline, et al. played in this 19-20 program) that did this **** all the time. Hell, they would let a player play with them the entire summer and then replace him a week or two before playoffs started. Lots of AAABA World Series titles to their credit. If that is what it takes to win a summer league title, I'll have none of it!
