Anyone have any experience with having a shoulder tightened up, and what the realistic recovery time is?
We had a shoulder injury about the third week of football which was causing his left shoulder to roll out of socket out the back. We go for an MRI on Thursday, but Dr Meister said that the more than dozen times it popped out in games since then indicates that it will need to be tightened back up. Said a 6 month recovery time , but may be back swinging a bat after 3 months.
He is a RHP, so the option of playing this spring and summer and waiting to have it done after is there, or we could try and cram it in before baseball starts and have him miss the first several weeks. He will choose to sit out football before baseball, that is non negotiable for him, heck he may not ever play again. Especially after a particularly hard game with a top ranked team, where his shoulder came out multiple times but he kept on playing. Only to have the head coach get in his face and tell him to "drop his balls and man up....it doesn't hurt that bad". He knew the doc would sideline him and he made the choice to not go and continue to play and got that in return. I don't think the head coach will ever get our sons respect back after that rant.....big mistake.
Just thought I would see if anyone had experienced this type of injury/surgery before. We will know more after the MRI, but I think the writings on the wall.
