Any advice on a pain in the shoulder when I raise up my arm. Its not unbearable but definitly uncomfortable. It did not start all of a sudden but in the last few days my arm has not felt as good as it normally does. The pain is only in the top of the shoulder. Kind of a sharp pain. Sometimes is hurts more than others. I am suppose to pitch tomorrow. What should i do ? Any ideas what might be wrong ?

see a sports doctor who specializes in throwing injuries, dont pitch until you know better!!! unless your pitching in the world series its not worth the possible damage unless you know what the problem is. there are some problems you can pitch with but most you cant. your on the wolforth program aren't you? do you do any type of weight lifting conditioning?
Thanks for the advice.

This is my time table.

I quit throwing altogether on wednesday, tuesday was my last day to throw. Started the vioxx on thursday. Rest all of next week. (will be out of town) Two therapy treatments the week I get back then I should need to be throwing by the next week for the world series. I am not going to do anything to really screw up my arm. But is there anything I can do to speed up recovery besides rest. What about ice ?
with the tendonitis you get inflamation! inflamation is swelling! swelling can be reduced by ice but many people dont recommend ice therapy while active throwing. nolan ryan iced every game and rode a stationary bike to reduce lactic acid build -up. to reduce the inflamation brought on by the tendonitis you would have to ice 2-3 times per day. my son went through ice messages (frozen water cup with paper peeled back and rubbed around his shoulder(alot colder than bag ice) stretching and warm -up becomes more important when icing.
