I took my 2 freshmen to a 2 day college showcase camp a few weeks ago but they didn't get to attend the second day due to a family emergency. There were around 150 or so kids so I figured at least they will get some reps and see where they stack up against the others.
They went through their workouts and position workouts, the HC come over to one of my sons and told him that he was one of 8 that he wants to invite back so he can discuss what they have to offer. They didn't get to attend the second day due to an emergency at home, but we did stop on the way out of town so they could explain to the HC why they were not going to be there. The HC was not there but they spoke with the assistant and he said he would explain to the HC what had happened and he told one son that he had been marked down for an invite back to visit more. When we arrived home both of them sent emails to the HC explaining again why they could not attend the second day.
My question is, is this just a smoke show or does it sound promising? I have one kid excited and the other down because he was supposed to pitch the day we could not attend. Should they send their high school schedule and summer schedule to the HC or something else? Just not sure what to do next, never thought I would have to worry about it this early.
