SHOWCASE TEAMS VS GOING TO INDIVIDUAL SHOWCASES

If you are able it is best to do both

Many coaches like to see players in a competitive setting such as tournaments especially after having seen them at a showcase

but usually at most of the elite showcases they play games so what is the difference?

Do not compare game sat showcases with games in tournaments---there is a different intensity level

Here's a similar situation to which I could use some friendly advice:

Our '08's summer travel coach has said "No Showcasing" during the season. They will attend tournaments every weekend, with several being larger tourneys. There are opportunities for two Showcases in their tourney schedules, but not ones that appear to provide the same exposure as CS, PG, etc.

What's a kid to do? Are there enough opportunities in August and the Fall?

Also, wondering if it would be best for him to strictly go to Showcase events next summer (before Sr. year) since a summer travel schedule conflicts so much with Showcases in June/July.

Of course, both would be best. But what coach wants his players taking off on their own pursuits several weekends of the season.
