bigmac24,

“Does anyone know how to throw this pitch?”

The classic Sinker is a great pitch for arm health because it leans you towards powerful drive and release pronation with it and with other pitches by having you finish with your ball elbow up! Have you noticed in the last 5 years this pitch is being brought to the MLB level more and more, I would guess an increase of 5 % over the past when very few performed it before?
The Sinker is the oppositely spun axis of the Slider where both axis’s are directed forwardly. This pitch can be thrown at any point on the balls seams preferably 4 seam rotation as long as you hook your middle finger tip so that the ball releases off of only your middle finger against thread and spun towards your glove side, the picture shows a two seam rotation release grip that will have a slightly different (less bite but slightly higher velocity) action. The best way IMO is to lock you’re middle finger tip with a seam between your middle finger and you’re index finger. This pitch is particularly nasty when someone like Tim Lincecum throws it because of his centered driveline and high upper arm and forearm vector (slot).

I have children who throw this pitch because they have been taught the screwball early.

Here is a more telling quote from over there.

“I use my single windup, my double windup, my triple windup, my hesitation windup, my no windup. I also use my step-n-pitch-it, my submariner, my sidearmer, and my bat dodger. "Man’s got to do what he’s got to do.”
