Stay away from Iowa. Yes, it is a Big 10 school, but the program has problems up and down. The pitching coach just left and they have had a lot of problems the last couple years.

Just an example, I think this year Iowa had 17 kids sign to play baseball at a division 1 school and only one of those kids signed with Iowa. Just shows you what the in-state players think about Iowa Baseball.
The pitching coach just left in the middle of the season. Rumor has it he was mad at Dahm and the way he runs the program. They have really struggled the past couple years and many kids have left. Maybe since you are out of state you will have a greater experience during the recruiting process with Iowa. The coaches at Iowa have really done a bad job at getting the top in-state players. They feel just because they are Iowa, the Iowa kids will want to play for them, even if they have to walk-on.

A kid from Urbandale last year wasn't heavily recruited by Iowa being in their backyard, so he goes to JUCO in Arizona and now a year later he is a scholarship player at Oregon State.

The baseball field at Iowa is very nice, but the dugouts are a joke compared to other Big 10 schools. The bubble is a nice place to practice during the winter and the weight room at Iowa is solid as well. Those are a few positives, but overall it is a program that has really struggled over the years and has had a great deal of problems within the program.

I would however take an official visit to Iowa to see how it compares to the other schools. Maybe other programs are just like Iowa, except we hear about all the problems at Iowa because we live so close.
