heys guys, i am a 2010 RHP who lives in a tiny town in minnesota. currently, i am living in panama as part of an exchange program. i am playing on the national allstar team here, (which is amazingly good) and performing well. my coachs here, (who were MLB scouts, coach, ect) have said that i have high D1 potential. this is all good and dandy, but i am worried that when i get back to minnesota, i wont be getting the exposure i need. i usually just play on the hs team, varisty this year, and then on my legion travel team. my family has said that i will be able to do one showcase, and i am thinking about Headfirst because i am lookin for academic schools. any help would be appreciated on what to do next or ideas of how to get more exposure. thank you.

Sounds like you had some good exposure and didn't even realize it. Smile don't cast this exposure aside by saying "this is all good and dandy, but" I would at least get a letters or recommendation from these MLB scouts and coaches, and a telephone number they can be reached if a prospective coach wants to verify your baseball ability. I also agree with Krakatoa.

Congrats on being an exchange student...that must be a great experience...and the baseball makes it even better!

I was reared in NW MN (TRF) and hockey was what it was all about in that region. So naturally, I was a wrestler!

Try to convince your parents to get you to the showcase...if they trust you for your time in Panama, they probably can figure out the benefits you will gain from a weekend at a showcase. I would bet your parents have a clue!

Work hard on your skills, attitude and hustle because you never know who or where someone will "spot" you.

Best of luck! What little town in MN?

And my dad (who played college ball) already said that getting contact info is a good idea. I am in the process of getting that info and I agree it has already gotten me some exposure. I keep getting info on Central American showcases and traveling teams lol. I guess I am just worried that I wont be able to stack up to the kids who have gone to all the showcases and played with the best teams in the country. Thank you all for your responses.

Ps, Hockey does dominate here as well, and like you, of course I dont play it. Basketball in the winter Smile
Alex,

Welcome to the HS Baseball Web! As you might guess from my screen name, I'm from Minnesota, too (Plymouth, just west of Minneapolis).

If you've looked around this website, you may have noticed that Perfect Game offers excellent opportunities for exposure - and they are located just south of us in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They are also the premier sponsor of this website, so you can just click on their banner at the top of this forum to visit their website for more info.

With all the discussion of PG's large national showcases, you might not notice that they offer a few regional showcases at their Cedar Rapids headquarters, within easy driving distance for you (save the cost of airfare). My son attended one in February of his junior year of HS, and it was a very good experience for him.

Please feel free to PM me or just ask here in this thread if you have questions.

Julie

P.S. I just noticed that you are an RHP, so the same showcase my son attended would be a good fit for you - the Pitcher/Catcher indoor showcase which is in early February in Cedar Rapids.

Thanks for the reply, I used to live really close to Plymouth, as I was born around there. Would you reconmend PG over HeadFirst. I am looking for very academic schools on the east coast and I thought that HeadFirst was the leader in its field for that. Also, thank you for the Pitcher/Catcher info, I will look into that, although I get back in the US the first day of Feb, so my parents (again) might not like that. Thank you all, Alex
