Goodness! He only played 19 games this milb season. (ok, after 60 college games). AND gets to keep his $297.5k bonus. Nothing like getting terminated for cause and (probably) getting half his bonus payday next year.

Honestly, I find his actions inexcusable and right up there with the cardinal sin of baseball gambling.
I know this is a young man, and I hope he learned something.

I wonder if this actually is gambling related. He could have been paid by gambling guys to manipulate minor league games
This player should have played in the Northwoods league one summer. THEN he would know what it is like to play 60-65 college games then turn around and play 60 more!
But interesting point @Dominik85 I am not stupid enough to think gambling doesn't go on in minor league games, but it's such a shame. ****poof**** dream shattered without completing one season.

Did anyone notice that the player was listed as the DH for Coastal Carolina his sophmore and junior seasons and catcher as freshman.
I don't doubt that cheating happens. If I were the coaches at CC, I would be livid as this is a poor reflection on their program and they don't deserve that.

My son was playing in that league this year. While I agree with the general sentiment here - and my son certainly feels for that pitcher who had to wear the runs - I do think that there might be more to the story that may come out.
