Friends - just wanted to say hello from cloudy and chilly Myrtle Beach this morning Smile

It is nearing the end of Coastal Carolina's fall scrimmages and team world series games.

Of all the kids I have watched this weekend, one has stood out and caught my eye. Joe Froehlich is a tall lefty that has obviously worked his but-t off to add at least 30 lbs. to his body and he definitely has pitched with a presence this weekend. They have brought him in each game (3 games thus far) to pitch with runners on against tough left handed power hitters. He has consistently gotten key strikeouts, double plays, ground outs, and putting out all fires. The real reward for him imo was the many high fives he received from his teammates after doing his job each time. He has definitely turned heads this weekend and I saw his new pitching coach (Drew Thomas from Illinois) really in his corner.

This is what college baseball is all about imho. You keep working to get better even if things don't go your way at first.

CD,

WOW! Your post has caught me very much by surprise. "I'm a little verklempt… Talk amongst yourselves… I'll give you a topic…. Redshirt is neither red, nor a shirt to be worn… Discuss…" cry Thanks for giving Joseph the kudos.

It ceases to amaze me the amount of work and dedication these young men put into playing college baseball. It’s athletic Darwinism. You’re only as good as your last pitch…

lafmom, thanks for the kind words. Given the change in your avatar I see your son, Michael Curtis, has left the great state of Illinois. Campbellsville has a great program. Congrats back at ya! Looks like you’ll have a chance to take in a few games this year. Isn’t Campbellsville a suburb of Lexington???? Those lefies… they just ain’t right. crazy

Funny!! Wink It is only 1 1/2 to 2 hrs away depending on how you drive. I tend to be on the bottom of that time requirement! Looking so forward to being able to catch lots of games this spring! Smile

I follow CC because of CDs son and certainly looking forward to adding Joe to that follow list! They appear to be an all around solid group!!! CC posters may need a forum all to yourselves next spring.... there's a lot of you!! Smile
