That was an interesting read!  Thanks!!!

As an FYI, my mom was told to stop smoking.  She didn't.  So, she got so bad that my brother, sister and I were called to her bedside because they thought she was going to die.  She didn't.  So, she was told to stop.  She didn't and eventually another visit to her bedside.  In all, brother, sister and I made 4 trips.  The last one was for us to take her out of the hospital for Hospice.  She stopped then.  It was too late.  Please, if you smoke, consider stopping.  If you have kids, I hope you realize the position you might be putting them in someday.

Very Interesting read.

Several years ago I had to have surgery to rebuild a shattered right heel.  The Surgeon performing the surgery told me that if I smoked ( I don't), he would not do the surgery until I had been nicotine free for 10 days.  I asked why, and he said that smoking (nicotine) has been shown to slow the healing process.

I went with our son to meet with his Orthopedic Surgeon, prior to his performing TJ surgery. Even though son had filled out their questionaire, the Dr., still asked the question: Do you smoke or chew? He would not have performed the surgery if son did. Gave similar explanation of slowing down recovery, but also the success level.
